Even if these individuals “pled down,” jstoesz, they still had to (and continue to have to) register.

but to CAr point about punishment and rehabilitation…totally agree. Anyone who touches a child should be dealt with harshly. If I go into detail about what harshly entails, you will all accuse me of being a sadist.

This is exactly why there should be a separate category for cases where there is an age difference of five years or less, and the relationship was consensual.
That should never be classified as “rape,” and it’s a shame that people are having to deal with the registration requirements decades later when all they were doing was having normal, teenage relationships with their boyfriends/girlfriends.
