Hi Adam and all piggs,
Yes doing fine. Thanks for asking. I left Monday because we have only one long winding road out to/from our property and also it looked like air quality was going to get bad for my kids.We are with a friend here in San Carlos and having a nice visit. Mandatory evacuation came yesterday after the winds shifted. My property is north of Skyline Truck Trail. The area may burn, probably not, but even if it does not many of our houses will burn because the winds are tame and so many resources are in town.I have cleared brush at least 300 ft in all directions.Tommorow A.M. will probably decide the issue of whether fire is going to jump into Lawson valley or not. I envision massive air support and basically a pounidng of the fire into submission. We will see. Like I said earlier, after the Cedar fires and now this amazing situation, nothing is to be taken for granted. It looks like, other than Julian, we might be the last people allowed back in, oh well.I have been reading here. Haven’t heard from Allan of Fallbrook. That was a pretty scary deal up there. Hope he is doing well.
Best wishes to all piggs and your families.

October 25, 2007 at 12:14 PM #91749Allan from FallbrookParticipantRus and SD Realtor: Thanks so much for asking after us. We are doing fine. The fire moved north and east of us, but it came within approx 1 mile of the house (you could see the glow from the top of our driveway), and then the winds shifted.
I want to say that the response of the firefighters, Sheriffs and SDG&E has been simply amazing. My wife spoke with some firefighters at the local grocery store all the way from Napa to help out. These guys are true heroes, and the efforts they made to save homes and property was incredible.
Again, thanks for your concern and my prayers are with those still in harm’s way.
God bless.

We were able to come back last night. No evidence of the fire can be seen from our fairly expansive views of the country side. Just worked out that way. Even the ash is very mininimal. I am back to trying to finish the house, which I started building Aug. 06, for Christmas visits. For a while I thought I might be coming back to start over.Did you get caught up in the evacuations? I haven’t and probably won’t get caught up on reading threads. Haven’t heard of any piggs who lost a home . I certainly feel bad for the hardships people face dealing with rebuilding and with insurance companies especially.
Having spent my entire life in either Ventura, Santa Barbara or San Diego counties this is no novelty to me. I remember fires raging in Ojai during Vietnam when I was about 7 and not really being sure they were not related.
