About the multiunit, my nephew-in-law owns an apartment building, but it’s in a crappy area. I haven’t talked to him and I don’t know about the daily upkeep. I don’t know if he takes care of it himself, like one landlord I had a long time back, or if he hires a property management group. It sounds like a hassle to me.
With the professional field I’m in, I can go into business for myself, contract my services out. It’s a flexible, satisfying career which is why I chose it. The point being, I expect to be diversified with this profession, thereby maximizing my earnings. And until I get to where I want to be, I will be taking Rayburnes advice to get what is available to me.
Another thought, any of you ever owned a franchise business such as the “chick-fil-A” restaurants? What do you guys think about that OR even owning a nail shop. I had thought about something like that, but wonder if it would be a hassle and time consuming? Or would it be worth it?
Thoughts?

not really sure I’d want to deal with the hassles
but wonder if it would be a hassle and time consuming?
Thoughts?
Getting from where you are to where you want to be is going to be a hassle and time consuming especially with finishing raising those two boys. In any case, if you want to get there, unless it is difficult, you are not going to get there. Lots of nice people are on section 8 or live in a rusty trailer in the middle of nowhere AZ.
Profitting from something you need anyway, namely shelter, is a no brainer, hassles or not…..especially coming from where you are now and your age. I’ll try to think of easier ways. I try to think of easier ways every day. If you don’t make a lot of money and don’t have a lot of cash ,as in …it takes money to make money ,you better get tougher than you are sounding right now. Sometimes you just can’t make much money or grow it. Why not have a duplex helping out? I’d recommend a damn ugly one, if that is what it takes too.
Excuse me if I sound a little bossy!LOL

January 10, 2008 at 11:29 PM #133997AnonymousGuestHey, what is this with my age?! Yes, I’m 42, but I look like I’m in my late 20’s.
That aside, I understand what you’re talking about Rustico. I’m coming late to the game. I wish I had done a lot of things differently, but now I have to deal with reality as it is. I can’t live in an ugly duplex though. But, I get your point.
