I havn’t received any letters for them other than the mortgage coupon. Having lived through a foreclosure myself in the early 90’s, I kind of know what the NOD looks like. Analagous to the fat vs thin envelope in college admissions. So I don’t know for sure, just suspect. The only reason I know the balance of the mortgage is because I received an offer for mortgage insurance addressed to me, that stated the loan balance on the property. I give the landlords the coupon every month, so they would know if I opened it.

June 8, 2008 at 5:05 PM #219555AnonymousGuestTone, yes, I sympathize. It can be hard to find a place to rent with a dog. Apartments will, but as noted, some of them have weight restrictions like mine does.
I found out my landlords were in default by a broker coming to my door with a list of NOD’s in his hand. He wanted to talk to the lady of the house about what he could do to help the situation and he thought I was her. I pried and he told me what I needed to know. Shortly before that I had gotten an open flyer indicating the situation and letters from their HOA. I knew something was up. So, anyway, you can ask a realtor or broker.
Somebody should tell you soon the other ways you can look up a NOD.

June 8, 2008 at 8:27 PM #219701ToneParticipantMarion,
Were you forced to get out — like “you have 30 days to vacate” — or did you read the writing on the wall and look for another place at a more leisurely pace. I guess my biggest fear is renting a place, getting hit by a foreclosure, and having to scramble to find another rental thereby taking a place I may not be entirely happy with.
