Realtors half-truths and full lies

[Fearful]

A Realtor (r) came to the door of my house in CV. Besides the usual fluff talk about how I am Chinese (he mistook me for the owner of the house; I am 6’4″ and white as can be), he made one statement:

“The market has definitely flattened out.”

Is not there an ethical obligation to say things that are even close to true when it comes to people’s personal financial situations? If I buy a house based on his representation that things are okay now, does he not bear even the slightest responsibility if I lose my shirt?

People are losing their homes, many thousands of dollars in down payments, and our country is facing one the most economically challenging times in history – and no small part of the blame rests on liars like this realtor.

I regret not spitting in his face.

BMW: "the ultimate driving machine", all the weight-loss ads touting "I lost 100+ lbs" when the before after pcitures are clearly two different people, or those rich dad/poor dad "self improvement seminars" touted by robert k or donald trump.

It's about personal responsibility, due diligence, and buyer beware, which appears to be lacking in america these days. Granted those walkin realtors are really annoying, no one's holding you at gunpoint to buy a house, and if you didn't want to talk to a complete stranger, you shouldn't have opened the door to random marketers.

As far as spitting in his face, yeah that would have worked real well. You would have supplemented his income as well as probably some personal injury attorney for god knows what. We do live in sue happy CA. Not to mention it's considered assault/battery in some areas, and since you would have done this on someone considered a minority, it could have been interpreted as a hate crime.

 

And pssss….haven't you heard, carmel valley is holding value. </sarcasm>
