I can count the number of post office socializing events I have experienced on one hand. Avalon is different because people there tend to have more time on their hands. At my post office, it is pretty much grab and run. You are more likely to be run over than spoken to.
A bigger problem is that the USPS will not cross reference street addresses and deliver to PO boxes so you will have to deal with mail and packages being returned as undeliverable.
