I’m not clear how you consider North Poway to be in the “middle of nowhere”. I bought a 5000+ sq ft house on a bit more than an acre there for about half of what it would have cost in La Jolla or Del Mar. And I can get downtown or to the airport in 25 minutes, which is about what it took me from La Jolla. North Poway has great access to the 15, unlike the rest of Poway.

Well-priced houses move quickly around here, although you’ll see ones that are asking the old prices lingering for months.

Yep, Eugene was making lots of generalizations there. North Poway is an affluent area that has little to do with Sorrento Valley or Camp Pendleton. People I know around here run their own businesses, work out of their houses (like me), work for one of the tech companies along 15, or are funemployed.

I was amazed to find a beautiful house on a large lot where I could still get to North Park for dance lessons (for example) in a reasonable amount of time, with schools that are as good as public schools get these days. Then again, I love older neighborhoods; we were lucky to find a renovated house in an area first built in the 60’s.

You could just as easily do that in Del Mar. But it’s much harder to commute to North Poway from Sorrento Valley than to Del Mar.
