I think there are lots — racist scapegoating is always popular during economic downturns. In Germany it was the Jews; here it will be the Chinese and the Mexicans. For the simple minded (like this guy), a good scapegoat answers all the problems.
Fishsticks: In terms of scapegoating, you don’t need to look any further than internment camps, like Manzanar, that were used by the US during WWII.
Cardiff: In terms of violence, you’re also talking about a country that has 300MM guns. We get real pissed off, there is gonna be trouble.
Up here in Fallbrook, I’m surrounded by arch-conservative, very well armed former Marines. Given my military background, it isn’t hard to imagine a group of former military or law enforcement types getting up in arms.
Perhaps we need to sing a different tune now…
“O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all thy sons command….” π
Still waiting for the Canadian dollar to fall further…Vancouver is pretty tasty these days.
Where as last year, we saw $1USD = .98 CAN….Now we’re seeing $1USD = $1.22 CAN…. $1.55+, and we got game.
Are you going to march to DC or fly commercial?
Or you plan to burn down the city hall, assuming there is one in Fallbrook? The original Tea Party was a violent act of revolt against the government. The participant risked to be executed, jailed, mutilated, enslaved… and all that with no life insurance for the surviving women and children.
The contemporary Tea Party… since Americans seems to be more open to socialism recently, I’ll pay homage to Marx and call the second one a farce.
