Participant“Sure you can buy cheaper, but you have to really love your car, and white trash for neighbors.”
Wow, I live CV north of 56(which is far better than CV South), and you sound like the typical snobbish person who lives in CV.
I think CV is a great community with 3 great high schools. But, it’ll never be up to par with RSF and La Jolla with all its cookie cutter tract homes.

Participant“The difference between now and “before” is that CV has become a more viable community with services within walking distance of most homes.”
They’ve built one new shopping center in the last 10 years. I don’t think that’s going to suddenly change the premium you pay to live in Carmel Valley. And, unless you’ve got a different definition of “walking distance” from most people, there aren’t services within walking distance of most homes.
Sure, the important difference in commute is time, not gas. But that’s no different than it was before. Nothing is different than it was before. And when it all shakes out, the price difference won’t be either.

Participantzk, all that shopping center did was cut your commute to the other Vons but 1 mile. Does one area really need two Vons in a 2 mile radius?
