The MLS reports that there were 32 sales of LJ homes in the 1700-2500 SqFt ranges with some ocean views that sold in 2001. Of those, almost half sold below $800,000.
BTW, 32 sales doesn’t sound like very many until you consider that the MLS only reports 348 sales altogether for 92037 in 2001. 193 of the total 348 sold for less than $1,000,000; and 122 of the total sold for less than $800,000.
Obviously, some of these homes were better than others, but I daresay that at least a few of those sales would qualify as “nice homes” by most people’s standards.
In my opinion and based on what’s already been happening, the “nice 2000 SqFt home with some view for under $1,000,000” is a certainty.

May 31, 2008 at 10:59 PM #214830AnonymousGuestawombadavis, if you aren’t a “player” in this market, and you have owned your home for several years, then why the hell do you blog on this site? Sounds like you are a little worried about the coming crash. There is no question PB prices across the board will return to at least 2001 levels, probably lower. I guess that sucks for you.

May 31, 2008 at 11:32 PM #214840DWCAPParticipantOh god, I rent. I must be a loser who should just off myself and end it all cause I come home to a place that does not get taxed in my name. I make alot of money, save >25% of my income, have an awsome GF, a job that makes me happy and a difference in the world, travel all the time, work hard, and am mostly happy most of the time. I have a great family, alot of friends, and am healthy as an ox.
Apparently AMB thinks I am worthless, being a renter sure is a terrible place in life, with housing falling at a faster rate than EVER, I obviously should run out and buy a place so I dont end up a misserable rich looser renter. Everyone knows God and society hate renters, right AMB?
BTW, wasnt the top a few years ago?
