Good move. Just about everyone in our very large families have kept all of their properties over the years, and that has worked out well for our kids.
Of course, some of the kids had careers that took them elsewhere by choice, but they’ve had the option of either keeping the properties or selling them, since not all young people find their dream career in San Diego.
Just about everyone I talk talk to seems to be trying to adopt this strategy–if they’re in a position to do so.
I don’t know about others but I am hoarding. I almost sold one of my rentals this year but decided I better just hang on to it in case my kids start looking out of state in the future.
Good for you.
As long as America has existed, there have been demographic changes. NYC is a prime example.
In the 21st century, there is bifurcation of metro areas (super-star cities or global “glamour” cities) where the highly paid jobs are and lesser cities.
Your descendants will likely be more prosperous in San Diego than in Spokane, Washington.
