IMO, a hobby should be something that you have the option of doing or not doing.
Cooking is necessary for most people, if they want to eat at home. So it’s not a hobby.
However, cooking can be a hobby if one chooses to do it very well and enjoys doing it.
Is it necessary to excel at something for it be a hobby?

IMO, a hobby should be something that you have the option of doing or not doing.
Cooking is necessary for most people, if they want to eat at home. So it’s not a hobby.
However, cooking can be a hobby if one chooses to do it very well and enjoys doing it.
Is it necessary to excel at something for it be a hobby?
