I’m looking to replace 2 sliding glass doors and one window. They are single pane roughly 30 years old.
One set of doors is 8 foot, the other 6, the window is about 5×3
My primary objective is to lessen the noise. The noise outside sounds nearly identical when the windows are closed as it does when they’re open.
As I started to research I decided to get a free quote from Sears, whom just left. After a very long sales pitch, the guy quoted me $9,800 for their “best” option which is double pane with argon in between, and the second pane being extra thick w/laminate. The “better” version was $8,200, and the “good” version which was just double pane glass with argon in between was $5,400.
This was installed/cleanup/lifetime warranty, etc.
This is my first quote and I know next to nothing about windows, but this seemed really high!
Does anyone have any suggestions on window guys they’ve used before? Does this seem fair/high to you all?
