GuestUnder the no more drilling thought. after the first plane crashed or boat sunk or rocket blew up should they have scrapped the subsequent attempts? Not saying this isn’t bad but shouldn’t we all learn from what is happening so it doesn’t happen again or so we know what to do when/if it does? Enough blaming and politics already. BP is at fault and will pay. The gov’t should be doing whatever is needed to assist or cap the hole. It does seem to me that both sides are sitting on their hands for some reason.

ParticipantGovernment doesn’t want to take over because they know that as soon as they do, they can no longer blame BP. It’s looking like there’s no stopping this thing until the relief wells are completed. If there’s nothing they can do, what’s the point of taking over the impossible task and the blame that will come with it?

PlnrBoy, I don’t think those are fair comparisons. Never has a sinking boat or blown up rocket caused as much environmental damage as this. Not to mention the economic damage that will be suffered by thousands along the Gulf Coast.
I’m not sure about the history of what happened after the Hindenburg exploded, but I think sometimes after a disaster the best thing that can be learned is that “maybe this isn’t a good idea”.May 25, 2010 at 5:25 PM #554057citydweller
