Most nights, it’s a little nippy to be outside here so I guess the 84% humidity takes the edge off the chill b/c it feels great on our patio tonight. But I guess it’s different at the fairgrounds, with all those people packed in there, probably creating their own microclimate!

July 3, 2011 at 10:29 PM #707164NotCrankyParticipantI went to the fair, My biggest impression was something like “damn a lot of people will go to almost any length to reproduce”. It was fun to watch my seven kids try rides for the first time. They wanted to try all the crappy little games….I told them we can figure out a way to do all that at home(besides I spent my last $50 trying to shoot a basket over a statue of Kobe). The barkers were giving away live polliwogs…good as dead polliwogs by the time they get home, or more likely spilled in the parking lot. WTF is Peta when you need them.
Did I mention the guy who cuts in the line at the gate, with his entire family tree in tow, bitches because his freedoms are violated by the security check. Asshole.
The food, besides the cost, is an embarrassment…deep fried chocolate covered bacon? Seven pound cinnamon rolls? I wish it were not so “Americana”. I guess nobody said I had to eat the whole thing.
If it were not for the kids, I would not think it was worth the hassle, the millions of humidity raising pits, or the shame and calories of it all. Now I can get over the fear of them saying I never took them anywhere….Legoland here we come….barf.

Do they still have the Beer Gardens? I used to bounce there in my younger days, (a long time ago). btw, complaining about humidity in Del Mar is really weak.
