Context and subtext, juxtaposed against the backdrop of History (big “H”) is hugely important and even more so, if you can hijack your opponent’s icons, symbols and mythology. MLK’s words resonated, not just with blacks, but with people of all colors. Beck is no fool, nor are his producers. His choice of Hayek’s “Road to Serfdom” was intentional, as is his constant references to “back then” (the proverbial “Good, Old Days”).
The Left does it as well. Hillary Clinton is fond of the 1968 Revolution rhetoric, bringing up the “barricades” and other totemic words. Obama remains one of the most skilled orators of our time, and the “Messiah” meme is not misplaced; not when you consider the language of deification and reification he and his followers use.
Like I said, Orwell would love this shit.

I do it for effect rather than out of belief. You have to talk the language of Glen Beck and Limbaugh for their adherents to understand.
If someone calls you a dumbass, it’s serves no purpose to respond “that was not very polite”.
As Allan has said before, words have meanings and consequences. But will the Right tone down the vitriol first?
