While we don’t know the motives of the shooter, various media outlets are strongly suggesting some political motive might be at work given that Ms. Giffords was in the past target of poltically motivated vandalism and was in “crosshairs” like this
I hope that this is the moment where we as nation move away from this increasingly poisonous discourse that is dominating our politics these days and pray for recovery Ms. Giffords. I hope that the blood spilled of the innocents today does not flow in vain.
