After this catches on http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/12/crash-taxes-are-growing-in-popularity-among-cash-strapped-california-cities.html, we will probably be billed if you need the cops, or any other service instead of your property taxes covering local government, it will be a menu of services with no opt out. The State is broke and broken, that is the main reason to look around and Jerry Brown is not going to fix the State any more than Arnold did.
Needless to say, this is a very, very bad idea. You can’t tell me that with the taxes our govt collects, they don’t have enough resources for emergency services. Then where is that money going? This is pure B.S.
Californians are taxed enough at all levels. I’d rather see Prop 13 get reversed than see this — and I strongly favor Prop 13. Our tax money is being grossly mismanaged (and it is) if they can’t afford emergency services with their current revenues.

LOL – I’m with you on this. I made a vow when I got my first post-college job… no more bad beer. Best life choice I’ve made.January 3, 2011 at 5:33 AM #647384UCGalParticipant
Sorry, but I have to draw the line. Life is too short for bad beer. Didn’t we already have a long thread that explained this?
The taxes are going to unfunded pensions.
In other words, today’s taxes are paying for the emergency call that happened many years ago.
Back to the OP’s original question: The funds will never last, even in Temeucula, so the success of the plan will come down to the meaning of “semi” retired.
