ParticipantI blame this all on Bush.
On the otherhand, doesn’t the Federal Reserve/Central Banks/BIS make these calls? They control the world, right?

Guest
Partypup: Well, not to sound like a complete saber rattling nationalist, but if this scenario looks likely to come to fruition, I say we fall back on the one area of uncontested American supremacy: Our military.
How, exactly, is China planning on getting their 60% of imported oil back home from the Mideast? They have no “blue water” navy to speak of and I can just imagine how thrilled US Navy sub commanders would be lighting up China’s merchant fleet.
Don’t think it will come to that? I think the TPTB have already game planned this scenario out and wouldn’t hesitate for a second. You push the US far enough, we’ll do anything. Think Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
We could literally choke the world in terms of closing off all avenues of transport, whether sea lanes, air corridors, or roads.
I actually agree with this one.
As long as we have the best military, we’ll still be the top dog. That’s why China is modernizing.
We can also accelerate economic growth by welcoming more immigrants (who tend to be very entrepreneurial). Whenever I go to New York City I just love watching all the people from around the world living that very vibrant and expensive city. It’s amazing how people manage to thrive in New York. And, no, not everyone works on wall street and earns large bonuses.
Large scale immigration will change the racial make up of America. But that’s a good thing. It happened in the early 20th century. It can happen again.
I think that the American Empire still has at least another 50 years. We have many good things going, and when forced, the country can change for the better.
