Rus: Meth? Dude, that is an East County thang. Up here, it’s all about the weed, baby!
I average about one to two books a week, so, no, I am not a speed reader. I enjoy reading and pretty much stick to history when it comes to non-fiction. Or physics. Seriously. That’s bad, isn’t it?
Hinterland. Good word. I like “nether regions”, too, but that term can be badly miscontrued. Especially with this crowd. I mean, tedious clique.
I have gotten to where I only care about non fiction. The truth I guess. I spend a lot of time reading science stuff too. I can easily understand big picture stuff in science, the general idea, but could never be a true technician.
Here is an interesting link I have read a few times.

August 7, 2008 at 12:18 PM #254208NotCrankyParticipantCasca just used hinterland. I really do like his word skills. Dan is good too.
My reading has always been very eclectic. Not geared toward these topics. It will be interesting to read “Cien Anos de Soledad” after having had these debates. My wife is going to try to check out Road to Wiggan Pier” for me today. It looks fun and most importantly easy. The internet is fantastic in a “cliff” notes sort of way. That is how I confirmed that the suggestion would be a good one for me(even though it was for you).
Dan, I really appreciate your posts. I think it is great that you are a Realtor willing to mix it up instead of protect your sales image. You probably should reconsider with a baby on the way. Just kidding on the last point and congratualtions!
It doesn’t appear that your Mesa freshman and sophmore years have hurt you intellect compared to what I see from others who went to slightly more prestigious schools.
I completed more than a hundred units at Mesa before deciding that college was a liability to my overall situation. I didn’t want any of the jobs that a specialized degree would get me. Too proud to go to a university just to get my card stamped.

“Hopefully, your comments above were indeed final. This tedious clique will certainly be thrilled to see your departure. We all feel a sense of tiredness, no, wait, enervation, or lassitude, or is ennui better?”
Casca, I don’t agree with this. You didn’t not take anything from me or make me tired. One of the terrible things about cliques or apparent cliques is that when the “outsider” leaves it seems clear that they harbor ill will, fundamental feelings of superiority or complete rejection for the person. I can see where you might feel “ganged up on”, including by me. Overall that isn’t the intent. It got sloppy. Best wishes to you.
Would someone please say “get a life Rustico”?

You are far too kind to someone who gets their kicks out of mixing it up. There is no “clique” here–we all have our opinions and points of view. His is extreme and he’s not willing to discuss things rationally–he just likes to engage in verbal warfare, or at least fisticuffs. Then he ducks out when he’s sufficiently annoyed and insulted everyone for his own enjoyment (but still hasn’t proven his point or persuaded anyone).
Others here are rational, decent people who enjoy discussing current events (and perhaps how they tangentially relate to housing?). The discussion is better off for his absence. Good riddance.
“Quote” is right next to “Reply.”
And I’ll say it: Get a life, Rustico.
