Yes, because sinking BP stock price makes BP ripe for takeover. BP is now trading below book value but BP is far from insolvent.
Whatever company wants to takeover BP would first need for BP to go bankrupt to cordon off the cleanup liabilities in a separate legal entity.
Because of the liabilities, BP might just end up selling off its assets rather its shares.
