The situation just seems to be getting worse and worse. Supposedly at least one of the spent fuel pools is dry and may catch fire or even explode. CNN just mentioned that these spent pools could heat up to 10,000 degrees. There are multiple spent pools on site and I suspect if one goes they will all go.
My sense is that we are looking at a situation that is going to be x-times Chernobyl. Is it going to be 2x, 5x, 10x, 20x? Who knows. Scary stuff.

I’m just shakin’ over this:
“Health and nuclear experts emphasize that radiation in the plume will be diluted as it travels and, at worst, would have extremely minor health consequences in the United States, even if hints of it are ultimately detectable. In a similar way, radiation from the Chernobyl disaster in 1986 spread around the globe and reached the West Coast of the United States in 10 days, its levels measurable but minuscule.”
My interpretation: I’m more concerned about the effects on my health of that fat guy down the street farting up-wind from me.
