Ricechex, it’s not your job to enforce parking laws. I’m sorry, there’s no way to politely ask someone not to park in front of your house; just like there’s no way to politely ask someone’s child not to play in front of your house. It’s rude to make such a request. The polite thing to do is to keep quiet. It’s never polite to tell someone that he is not polite.
You were rude first, so he responded by being rude back.
Don’t conflate the issues with the other neighbors. Parking in front of your house is between him and you.
That gentleman was rude to your face. Now, you are being rude behind his back by calling law enforcement on him. So don’t think that you’re a better person than he.
How is causing someone possible inconvenience, fines, and getting his vehicle towed, neighborly and considerate on your part?
There is no permit required to park. The issue of whether that large vehicle is allowed to park on the street still has to be determined by parking enforcement. You say that it’s not allowed, but your interpretation of the city ordinances may be flawed. Let parking enforcement do its job.
What is there to work out? He’s not infringing on your property.
Ok, so you don’t like that he parks his large vehicle in your neighborhood and you’re well within your rights to try to get rid of him. But the truth is that you’re being selfish here. All the power to you. But don’t claim to be polite, neighborly and considerate.

August 17, 2009 at 9:27 PM #445823RicechexParticipantI don’t think it is my job to enforce parking laws, UNLESS, the parking violations are causing trouble to me. I gave him some suggestions to park in front of vacant lots, but he was an a****le about it. You reap what you sow.
This post has caused others to call me:
“a fat ass”
“busbody”
“lonely retired person with nothing else to do”
“stay at home something”Funny how people make assumptions without having any background. How would you know if I have a fat ass? Perhaps I do, and perhaps I don’t. Isn’t that irrelevant? What do fat asses have to do with illegal parking?

August 17, 2009 at 9:56 PM #445833temeculaguyParticipantricechex, you’ve been here long enough to know it is a trap to only respond to and focus on the attacks. Ignore the attacks, listen to to the constructive advice, steer the thread in a positive direction and get what you came for, advice and ideas. Plus, since when is a fat ass on a woman a bad thing? I’m fairly certain it is one of the things that proves there is a god and he loves us.
