OT: most beautiful music video I’ve ever seen.

i got to name one of my kids, well, just the middle name; gentullio, after gentullio campagnolo, inventor of the quick release bicycle wheel. but i don’t call him that, or his first name either. i just one day started calling him another name that’s just a word, not even a name, it’s not salt, but it’s a random noun like that, and have called him mainly that since he was small, with slight variations on it (like if you called someone salt, you might also call him “Salty dog”, or “the saltmaster”, or “saltnpepper”, or ‘saltandbattery.

so, it’s not salt, but it’s just a strange word like that.

names are overrated. my wife got to pick the names, but what you end up getting addressed as your whole life is another matter entirely. the bitrh certificate name is only useful for life outside the home. it kind of bugs my wife but it’s too late to change now she tried to dissuade me early on but it just felt right.

although the other two kids i just call their regular names.

Hey Pa

Since i won’t be home for father’s [sic] I am writing you a letter. You are a great dad and I am writing this so that on father’s day .. you will know that I appreciate [sic]. You are an understanding person; even tempered, quick to laugh, supportive and open minded. You don’t shut down ideas. You let me do my own thing. You’re funny. you laugh with me. I love those crazy fits of laughter that you and I have. You are my dad. You have raised me from a tiny, helpless pink blob. I thank you for this service. I love you Pa.
