I’m moving from a Cox area to a Time Warner area next week, so I just signed up for Time Warner cable.
With COX I had:
Standard Basic cable, not digital (channels 2-80)
Super slow internet (768 Kbps down)for ~72 a month
Time Warner is giving me:
Standard Basic cable, not digital (channels 2-99)
Their slowest internet (1.5 Mbps down)for ~72 a month
Neither of these were promotional rates, so clearly Time Warner is giving me more for my money. As far as the internet is concerned, Even the 768k super slow one from COX was plenty bandwidth to do anything I needed.

Edit: What I really want to know is: Is it as fast as cable internet?[/quote]
I can say pretty conclusively after having had DSL for 7 years (elite) that the the basic cable internet is faster than the fastest DSL in my case.
Experience will vary.

February 27, 2009 at 11:45 AM #356369CoronitaParticipantJust an update: my u-verse went in this week. And I love it.
ATT needs to work on the install. It took 4 service calls and 4 separate technicians to get it working.
The last technician was absolutely awesome in terms of troubleshooting abilities. He was sort of the more “can do person” and less so of the “can talk but not do” type of person.
The funniest comment he said when I was asking him if the problem was resolved “I don’t know yet. Unfortunately, I’m trying to get a hold of ATT support and they just treat us like there customers and ask us to wait for a long time”. LOL…
Bye bye overpriced Time Warner….Competition is great.
