Oh Allan you just want a pic of me a la Marion style don’t you ;)(no offense Marion if you are out there)
Thank you Allan, the feeling is absolutely mutual.

Shannon: Blech! Talk about spoiling a perfect moment. I have this vision of you as a smart, opinionated, passionate person and then you bring up that demented harridan!
If Marion is out there, hopefully she’s taking her meds and staying away from sharp objects.

Seriously, whenever I feel bummed paying my student loan, or my car goes kaput- I tell myself “Your life is somebody’s dream”. i know there is someone in Afghanistan, Mexico, Haiti, etc that wishes with all their heart they could even have the chance to go to college, have a car, have a job, marry who they want.
America and its progress have made all these things possible for me and I am so appreciative of that.
Shannon: When I was in the Army, I saw this great sign posted in one of our ready rooms at Fort Bragg. It read, “For those who fight for it, Freedom has a flavor the sheltered never know”.
As many times as this country and its people drive me crazy, there’s something intrinsically right and decent about America. Yes, we have our faults and some serious bad spots in our history, but we always manage to pull it out, fix it and move forward.
As much as I disagree with Obama and his policies, I have to say there was something incredibly cool about America electing a black man as President and it happened in my lifetime. I was born in 1965, during the height of the civil rights movement and to see us as a country advance to this point is nothing short of amazing.
Call me simplistic and naive, but I do subscribe to Lincoln’s belief in this country as “the earth’s last best hope”.
