Most people I know do not think that people should be taxed if they do not want health insurance.
I actually agree with this.
If we are going to have a free market system, then we need the stomach to live with the consequences and let it be.
Let the people die who need to die for lack of insurance. Don’t treat the people who can’t afford it. Period.
Either that or have the government regulate and, yes, ration insurance for the benefit of everyone.
Right now, the system is lopsided to the advantage of old people on medicare and medicaid. Take away their socialist benefits and reduce taxes on the young who are the future.
I’m all for tough love. But when you decide that’s the way to go, then live with it.
I don’t see why Republicans have such problems with health care rationing. The market rations lots of things — housing, education, transportation, etc…

Couldn’t agree more. If the so-called fiscal conservatives want to save $, let them call for end to Medicare and Social Security. Let’s see how many of the people who ‘marched’ in DC recently will go along.

September 16, 2009 at 8:19 PM #457681AecetiaParticipantI agree. No one should expect the government to care for them, especially those who never paid into the system. Both are full of waste, fraud and abuse. Scrap them and start over. I do not see how forcing healthy people who do not want to pay for premiums to care for the unhealthy who overuse the health care system. Likewise, I have a problem with people who have absolutely trashed their health by becoming morbidly obese and or smoking, drinking, etc., then we should take care of them for free because why? Because they exist. They have a right to be diabetic with a heart condition and COPD, by why should that be the taxpayers’ problem. Maybe the FEMA camps should be turned into fat farms where retired DI.s make these fat people lose weight….
