If you are looking for rustic furniture, I would recommend going to Rosarito & Ensenada in Baja California. There are some excellent furniture stores with items 50% to 75% cheaper that what you would find in the US.

The style is very American/Californian.Add some stuff from Design Within Reach for some extra flair.
Hardwood flooring is so much better than carpeting. Plus you’ll save money in the long run because you won’t have to replace it like you do for carpet.

I’ve had other people recommend Room and Board. The best part? Most of it is made in the USA. π
“What else do we believe in? Partnering with small, family-owned companies that share our commitment to quality and sustainability. Offering a collection of furniture that’s 80 percent American made. And providing the kind of service we’d want ourselves if we were making important decisions about our homes.”

[/quote]Room and Board furniture is pretty good quality. And Made in America is definitely a plus.
To me, the style is uniquely Californian/American — an evolution of the Mad Men era furniture of the 1960s, and before that, mid-century modern.
The furniture fits very well in an open floor plan house (another uniquely American creation).
The style is modern, utilitarian, comfortable, and fit for daily use. It’s not lowbrow like Lazy Boy and Jerome’s. And it’s not formal like Ethan Allen (I hear that Ehan Allen makes the majority of their furniture in USA as well).
Design Within Reach carries furniture from American manufacturers such as Knoll and Herman Miller.
PS: I’m not a buy-American kinda guy. But when the design is special, the quality is good, at a reasonable price, I’m all for supporting American manufacturers.
