You are correct, the name is more likely Czech, but the Jakubec in this story is from Serbia.
So we can change it to: “One has an Arabic name, the other has an eastern European name.”

I feel awful for the landlord and the neighbors – they are screwed. It sounds like insurance will not cover the burning down of the house. Well, an American is more likely to feel less than welcome in Somalia than in Slovakia.
