I refused to buy the sellers dishwasher and did not put a new one in. I believe a prudent handwasher can use less water. I also find it’s not that much harder than a dishwasher except for silverware

March 7, 2011 at 1:26 PM #675652xtinaParticipantWhen I was growing up, we used the dishwasher to store our extra cups. When my parents redid the kitchen they took out the trash compactor and dishwasher. Of course, they bought the house to retire in and have no thoughts of moving anywhere for the rest of their lives.
I got so used to the art of handwashing that I never really considered what mainstream wants. In fact, I don’t know if I even know how to operate one.. or even what fancy detergents, etc I will need to get to supplement it. Time to google.
Thanks for the harsh dose of reality. Guess I’ll add “dishwasher” to the list.

March 7, 2011 at 1:29 PM #675657xtinaParticipantTY walter, I was thinking that I was crazy! I am a prudent, efficient, handwasher who enjoys the feeling of warm water running through my fingers and the satisfaction of getting every bit of food off of my plate.
As for silverware.. I can see where it’ll be more difficult for forks. But I barely eat with a fork. Chopsticks and spoons all the way!
Regardless, majority will win.
