Should be fine as long as you let them know asap so they can make other arrangements. You wont stay there long anyway if its a rotten work environment. Just make sure that your inside info is reliable and not a hater trying to keep the competition out.

Just focus on saying some opportunity came up and that you’d like to give that opportunity at XYZ employer because you feel it’s the best match for you. That way, if you ever *need* to work at the company you turned down in the distant future, well the door’s still available.

Why not go there, try it for two weeks, and see how it is? I get around to a lot of companies and in my experience co’s that people gripe a lot about are ones I end up really liking. People like/dislike things for many different reasons.
