Participant
FLU – you have any stats/data on this ?
I tell people I will get Lasik when I have as much time to live as the technology has been around so I can see if any long-term effects will catch up to me.
No I do not have any data. I have a couple of friends’ experiences (plural friends) scared me into not doing it (particularly since I have only 1 good eye).
I had one friend that had lasik done 3 times, and there was always some issue afterwards. I had another friend that had issues with night-time vision and it seems like it’s still an issue, and a third friend that have since felt their eyes are itchy, irritable, dry (like having allergies), which never happened before the procedure.
I’m sure my friends are the exception then the rule, as I’m sure plenty of people can say they’re lasik was just fine. But, I guess my vision isn’t that bad to warrant me taking unnecessary risk. Folks tell me the risks and the bad cases are a small percentage of the total number done. Knowing my luck, I would fall into that small percentage.

Participantnever get a laser in your eyeball.
If you’re looking for cool, distinctive, cheap specs, figure out whta size glasses work for you, then shop ebay. the prices are so cheap relative to crazy store markups you can buy many pair that dont work and do good just buying the pair that works, and easily resell the rejects. you need to know what sizes will work for you though. i have had luck on the bay.

ParticipantI do not wear glasses except when I work on the computer and still passed the eye test, but my night vision was deteriorating. (I am old). I started drinking a juice supplement made from Acai berry and it definitely improved my night vision. It was mentioned the night bombing mission pilots used a similar derivative to improve their night vision. a am not pushing any particular product, but I thought I would mention the improvement. I have seen the acai berry juice at Sams and heard it is also at Costco. I am glad I did not have any eye surgery.
