This happens to us about every 4-5 months. Here’s the solution: Go to Home Depot, find a product call Amdro Ant Block and sprinkle it around the outside of your house. Don’t put it where your pets might go, it’s OK, you don’t need complete coverage. In 1 day all the ants are gone. Trust me, this stuff is great. I find 1 jug of the stuff treats my house twice.
My wife goes insane when she sees ants, so I tried everything. This stuff is the best.

We have to empty our dog’s dish before we go to bed every night, if there’s anything in it. If we happen to forget one night, it’s no problem, but any longer and the scouts will bring in the army.

I dont mind an occasional ant, but when I looked down and saw them swarming in the carpet fibers, I swooned.
They were marching towards our pet kibble dishes. We also had watermelon that afternoon, and a very small amount of the juice seeped through our trash bag/bin.
Aaaaaaaarrrrrggghhhhh…
