frog and toad, though friends, will not generally get you high. it’s a very speciifc toad. don’t just go randomly sucking on amphibians…
but seriously, while drugs harm some, they may provide deep insigts and lasting changes that benefit others. on balance, psychedlic mushrooms, LSDand all hallucinogenic toads should be legal.
Not sure if they should be legal, per se, but I think the world would be a better place if more/most people were to experience mind-expanding drugs at least once or twice in their lives. It really can be life-altering, and in a very positive way, IMO.
June 17, 2014 at 3:04 AM #775250AnonymousGuestStrictly speaking, legalization and decriminalization are not the same things, though many people think that they are. Granted, a lot people do not know the main difference between “you’re” and “your” or at least can’t demonstrate that they do.
The difference between the two is the decriminalization is where something is no longer necessarily totally unlawful, but is still regulated. Legalization is the ablution of any laws governing whatever said thing is, whether it’s a recreational drug, sports car, personal loans or what-have-you.
Cannabis regulations are being decriminalized on Washington and Colorado now that the votes are in, according to the Boston Globe. There are a number of people against these kinds of regulations, though there are financial advantages to them. Oregon voters did not pass a similar law.
June 17, 2014 at 6:33 AM #775257scaredyclassicParticipantthe problem with just decriminalizing mushrooms or LSD is then they won’t be available for sale down at the local CVS. that’s why we need full legalization. I put the odds of this at approximately 0% in my lifetime.

I honestly believe drugs improved my life.
I don’t know if they’ve improved my life significantly, but some of my fondest memories of my pre-fatherhood days are of doing mushrooms. Great fun. Very connected to…everything and everyone. Just brilliant, really.
Obviously you want to stay away from meth and coke. Some people are in great danger of getting horribly addicted the very first time they take meth or freebase coke. Alcohol and opiates are dangerous, too. Marijuana? Might make you lazy and you shouldn’t drive, but it’s fun and it probably won’t kill you. Psychedelics? I think they’re pretty good stuff. LSD can last too long. Shrooms are…great.
MLB star tony gwynn just died at 54 from chewing tobacco. lots of famous coke freaks, like sigmund freud and Halsted, the founder of Johns Hopkins U., had heavy duty habits and lived long fruitful lives. I’d be willing to bet $50 if we broke down the data, you’d be weird and impaired on coke but live a long life, and tend yto die sooner with tobacco than coke or meth.
June 17, 2014 at 6:44 AM #775259scaredyclassicParticipantinteresting book on my shelf called ON SPEED. history of amphetamines. speed, meth, have a bizarre history in the USA. meth wasn’t actually criminalized until 1970. it was super widely available prior to that…and somehow we survived. it was a “miracle drug” that was EVERYWHERE….the people loved it, doctors prescribed it, and the cheap way to get it was in vick’s inhalers. you’d open em up, take out the inhaler pads froma few of them, mix them in coffee, and VOILA, a hefty dose of speed.
the real question is, was JFK a speed freak? the evidence is unclear, but in the new book, DR.FEELGOOD, it looks to me the authors make a decent case that JFK was getting heft doses of steroids and meth from his doctor. which was not particularly sensational at the time, as it was perfectly legal and acceotable to do so….
meth is what we demonize today. tomorrow it shall be something else.

Reality is good enough for me.
Maybe that’s why I’m not creative and out there like some folks.
I’m of very calm temperament, never desire or enthusiastic about anything much anyway. I think that makes me boring.
BTW, walking around I smelled 420 4 times this past week.

Ahh, don’t bother. Just order some spores on line and grow your own mushrooms. It’s a bit of a pain to grow them, but it can be done (especially if you pay attention to detail, which I have a feeling you’re good at, Brian). You know exactly what you’re getting when you grow your own.
Take them in a comfortable setting with a very good friend. Put on some music you like and anticipate good things happening. You’ll be surprised and amazed at how psilocybin will make you feel. You have no idea what you’re missing. When you take a good, solid dose, your “very calm temperament” will give way to merriment, fits of giggles, sometimes-hysterical laughter, a new appreciation of said friend, and a heretofore-not-felt connectedness.

Uhhh, scaredy?? You forgot to tell him to bring a complete snake bite kit and remedy with him and carry it on his person while he is “wandering around” in the desert while deeply pondering life in a psychedelic haze.
