OLBERMANN AND GARAFOLO: Playing the Racist Game

After our LL game last night the kids all wanted to play “Smear the Queer.”

I had to point out to them that they should really consider changing the name in this day and age. They of course looked at me like I was an idiot. One said what would you call it. I said “How about gang tackle the guy with the ball”, and another said “that’s gay”. So I guess the game’s original name will survive at least one more generation.

Cardiff: Fallbrook has a very interesting mix of demographics, both social and monetary. The youth football teams I coach have a mix of wealthy, middle class and poor kids, as well as whites, Mexicans, blacks and Indians (Native American, sorry). These kids all get along with one another, regardless of ethnicity or class, and there are NO issues regarding race. They freely joke with one another about each other’s race, but it’s in fun and generally is done because it horrifies the PC parents (and there are many).

The racial issues don’t really emerge until high school and, unfortunately, it is bad, especially at Fallbrook HS.

Kids really don’t seem to care all that much and deal with these things with greater ease and aplomb than their parents do.

I used to think Obama was reasonably bright but I now I think he is a product of affirmative action whose only talent is that he can read a teleprompter well and deliver vapid speeches well.
