I did this flipping props over the past few years with no tax consequences, all the proceeds at close are wired to the 401K account.
You and OJ are truly role models for us all to aspire too.

I didn’t supposedly kill anyone here…..a little different….I abide by the C Corporation laws of CA. If you want to pay taxes on the sale of your homes immediately that is your preference. I choose to defer those taxable gains until retirement and protect my assets from greedy lawyers…
It’s your life and your call…..but you are going out on a limb associating me with OJ. I forgive you for that…..I was just making it clear what course he took to protect assets along with every other WEALTHY person in America and it is completely legal…..
Sincerely, Contraman

And you know who pays for her attorneys as they work to find your money- you do! actually, she can get her attorney fees paid out of the “marital estate” since thats her only source of wealth until the finances are sepearated in the divorce.
And there are those declarations about your wealth that you need to make under the penalty of purjury. The judge will not look on you kindly if you lied on those!
So think twice before you adopt this stratagy. A quick negotiated settlement is the best way to go 99% of the time.
