That’s a messed up thing to say.
So you blame the sword for the hand that wields it.
Sd_matt: Bingo. Of course, Brian never served in the military, so what do you expect.
Standard US Army doctrine: “No Plan Survives Contact” (or put better by George Foreman: “Everyone has a plan. Then they get hit”).
Afghanistan was “under resourced” to use the new catchphrase and the previous strategy was not a good one.
Putting McChrystal in charge was a good move, but now failing to follow his advice is a bad move.
And, yeah, Brian, the military really is a bunch of crybabies. What an asshole comment. Next time you see a soldier, sailor or Marine, shake his or her hand and thank them for giving you the freedom to make truly idiotic comments like that one.

But when people play politics and try to blame liberals for terrorism, then I gotta defend my side. That’s just fair. :)
Defend them all you want, but your defense runs on thin ice and against history.
There are people here who like to blame the republicans/conservatives/whatever for the war and think that if we could just get out of it any way we can it won’t matter.
The bin Laden history shows that it does matter how we leave it. It’s not just a prestige issue. It’s a matter of life and death.
The blame for the Iraq War, without doubt falls on Bush — definitely for starting an ill-conceived war of choice, but also for losing it.
It won’t matter because, stay or leave, the results will be the same — a dysfunctional corrupt state. Those corrupt leaders that we installed are only paying us lip service while they milk us dry and stuff their Swiss bank accounts.

And HOW did they leave? BTW, that shameful departure captured in picture wasn’t even at the rooftop of the US embassy but some office building where refugees were told to assemble.surveyor, you are the one who said about Bin Laden: “He got that lesson from Vietnam.”
We don’t know yet if Obama will leave Iraq and or Afghanistan. But if he does, I’m sure that you’ll blame the “losses” on Obama. You’ll also blame the next terrorist attack on Obama.
So for Vietnam, give credit where credit is due. Nixon. Remember Bin Laden “got that lesson from Vietnam”.
Therefore, by your own reasoning, the 9/11 attacks were due to the shameful departure from Vietnam which Nixon decided upon and Ford carried out.
