“As I said before, the award could just as well have been given to the American people for our commitment to peace”
Clearly you have never served the american people briansd1. Perhaps you mean this humanitarian mission

October 9, 2009 at 7:58 PM #466564HobieParticipantObama just got his knees banged, Chicago style.
Isn’t is obvious that Iran–with it’s lying leader and nuke development and open aggressions toward Israel on the radar to be the next target for the US or Israel?
This award is an attempt to play off of Obama’s ego so as to not bomb Iran. …which needs to happen.
Either the US or Israel will be the first to clean Iran’s clock.
Actually, playing into Arraya idea that a war will revive the economy and the American spirit… this may be the best option of late.

So, I’m curious, Brian, what say you about the Leftists groaning about this award?
[/quote]There are “Kansans” on the liberal side as there are on the conservative side (but I think much fewer on the liberal side).
In order to understand the significance of the Nobel Peace Prize, you have to look at the international angle.
Under Obama, western liberal democratic ideals (yes that’s what they are called) have been revived and taken new significance. Our ideals are important weapons in defeating totalitarianism.
How the world sees America greatly affect how we achieve our goals.
We should all be honored by the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Obama.
