ParticipantThis is a general recommendation, as I have never been there. Have you considered paying to have access to an airline VIP lounge? Aeromexico may have one there. May not be worth it for only three hours, but it’s an idea to consider.

ParticipantIts good that you have a three hour lay-over. The AICM is big and semi-modern but it works at capacity most of the time. Any glitch and you will have a delay. The airport layout is very old and you will need to walk a long distance to go from the international terminal to the domestic terminal. In reality, it is the same building that has just expanded sideways along the runway. There is a newer “Terminal 2” where you need to take a bus but I am not sure it is in operation yet.
If you have a Gold Amex you can use their lounge.

ParticipantI am Mexican senor,
I have been there recently, the people above have some good input, particularly the VIP lounge idea, I think its great, Aeromexico also has one (it could be the same one) if you join thier member club. It may be worth it to join if you want to have a nicle place to pass the time during a layover. Here is a link to some general info:
http://www.aeropuertosmexico.com/Ingles/airports/dfe.htmalso I would not suggest going anywhere during that time chances are you will be stuck in traffic while trying to get somewhere and miss your flight.
My son is also going to Cancun with my brother and his family next week maybe you will run into them. have a good time its really beautiful and friendly.
