There are two (2) types of workers in California:
1. Gov’t Workers = Tax Takers
2. Private Sector Workers = Tax Payers
Source: John and Ken
What about the fact that public workers pay taxes?
I’ll try and make this really easy:
Government workers don’t really pay taxes, all they do is return a portion of the taxpayer dollars originally generated in the private sector.
Private Sector = Makers
Public Sector = Takers
“Remember, people who work for the Government don’t pay taxes, the people in the private sector pay their taxes for them, because every dollar in the Government Worker’s paycheck, came from a Private Sector Taxpayer. The next time you hear a Government Worker say “I pay my Taxes too”, tell them, “No you don’t, I do, because every dollar you have came from me.”
What about defense contractors. They’re salaries come directly from taxpayer dollars. Are they different than say an employee at the office that issues building permits and does building inspections? You can argue that both add value. We need building inspectors to make sure construction is done to code. We need defense contractors to build the tomahawk missiles we just lobbed into Libya.
I worked for a defense contractor as my first job out of college. My salary came from a private sector company (Cubic) but was directly billable to the government. Was I a “taker”?
Yes, you were knowingly or unknowingly a taker.
Here’s the bottom line: Gov’t workers are living large at private sector workers expense.
Most private sector workers have been stripped of everything the corps could take away, we are struggling now more than ever. Were sick and tired of paying for fat cat gov’t workers when we can barely put food on our table.
And now Governor Brown wants to raise our taxes again to the tune of 55 Billion! To pay for even more benefits for fat cat gov’t workers!
On top of all that we have to pay for THEIR pension losses!!
Enough is enough.
Unfortunately these tax measures will make it to the ballot – primarily b/c the gov’t employee unions own and control California Gov’t.
It’s being sold as let the voters decide; but only after Governor Brown does all he can to scare citizens about cuts.
NO 55 BILLION DOLLAR TAX INCREASE!!!
Gov’t workers need to sacrifice like everybody else.
Paramount,
Why the vitriol for those who had NOTHING to do with the off-shoring of private sector jobs, and the dismantling of private sector benefits? Public unions have actually slowed down the process.
Why aren’t you going after those who took those things away from private sector workers in the first place?

March 23, 2011 at 8:14 PM #680210gandalfParticipantWhy?
Because paramount listens to right-wing talk radio and those people think what they’re told to think, the latest distribution of GOP talking points.
Meanwhile, back in the real-world, TRILLIONS of dollars in wealth has been redistributed from Americans to mega-corporations and Wall Street. Much of it obtained through deregulation, market manipulation and fraud.
To add insult to injury, THESE COMPANIES DON’T PAY THEIR TAXES.
Where is the outrage?
How about going off on Goldman? Chase? AIG? Bank of America?
We never really hear much about the financial crash from the Tea Party crowd, astro-turf GOP stage props, parading around in their pee and shit-stained depends, ranting about unions, taxes and socialism.
Brain-dead GOP zombie fuck-bots are the worst Americans EVER.

March 23, 2011 at 8:32 PM #680215Vod-VilParticipantThe Democratic party runs California. If they really believe that Banks,Wall Street and Corporations don’t pay their fair share,WHY AREN’T THEY TRYING TO RAISE TAXES ON THE RICH?
Instead of going after tax loopholes for the bankers, they’re pushing for 5 more years of SALES TAX AND CAR TAX increases, which directly impact the working man.
