lol, can’t to the time, don’t do the crime.
There might be a small uptick in tickets due to the city budget, but it’s more to save their jobs then to fund pothole filling.
The place where cities make the most money from tickets is the red light cameras. They make half of every 400 dollar ticket (the camera operators make the other half). Expect more of those in the next few years. Easy money.

These sections of the CVC relate directly to the use of “speedtraps” within California:
40801 Speed Trap Prohibition
40802 Definition of a Speed Trap
40803 Speed Trap Evidence
40804 Testimony Based on Speed Trap
40805 Admission of Speed Trap Evidence
40808 Speed Trap EvidenceLook it up yourself
http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/calawquery?codesection=veh&codebody=
Of course, everyone uses the term “speed trap” differently, and only the definition in the CVC is really what a “speed trap” is.

May 28, 2009 at 6:23 AM #406540AnonymousGuestI wonder if all the “revinue” is worth it. I’ve been pulled over or contacted by LE three times in a month. More than the last decade combined.
One ticket for no seatbelt. Which I WAS wearing.
One warning for not having my off-road lights covered. Guilty but no ticket.
One ID check while getting into my car on a public street. This one really has me smokin. Carrying a tool bag, wearing a company shirt, walking out of a client’s business. SDPD wants to see my ID and ask me where I’ve come from, where I’m going and what I’m doing. What business is it of his?
The net effect of all this Gestapo behavior is that regular guys like me start hating cops and disrespecting the law. Now, lest you believe that I am a criminal with a hard on for cops let me tell you: I’m 45, white, employed, very positive net worth, married, honorably discharged veteran, father of an Eagle Scout, never been arrested for anything, Republican. Shouldn’t that guy be pro LE? I am not. I really do hate cops. Why?
In addition to the three recent incidents above I’ve had a gun stuck in my face five times in my life. Four of the thugs holding them were cops. Even after FELONY stopping me and threatening my life, not one of those cops arrested or even ticketed me.
Whatever revinue they generate is probably consumed by their salary plus much more. The bad will they generate by their heavy handed treatmet of nearly everyone offsets any positive effect they claim to have. Sure, detectives solve crime. Street cops? No way. Think about any time you’ve tried to get help with a crime commited on you. What did the cop really do? Show up way after the fact, write a report and leave you feeling under served I’d bet.
Fire most of them, learn to get along without them and live a more free life. This is supposed to be the United States of America, not NAZI Germany or Stalinist Russia.
Just one guy’s opinion
