More and more of our assets are owned by the Asian and Arabs. We have no one to blame but us, our overconsumption and arrogance is driving this great country to the ground. We could easily cut 25% of gasoline consumption (Saving the country ~150 billion dollars annually) if we want to, but no, we want our SUVs, we want more horse power. Think about this, a family sedan in the late 80s has about 120 Horse Power. Now it is 180-280 hp. Most of the articles I read from Car Magazines equate More horse power to a great car. 90% of Escalade/Hummer/Suburdan owners could be ok driving an Impala.

But hey, I don’t worry about this. We have been living large and the Asians and Arabs living on $2/day. May be it is time for better wealth distribution in the world.

Doesn’t any one find it alarming that U.S. assets are being snatched up left and right?

And I thought the dollar was worthless and anything priced in dollars would be worth less in the future. Maybe the world sees the current situation as discount prices ?

Anyway, back in the 80’s I was worried that the Japanese were buying up all the prime real estate in the U.S. They were going to take us over. What happened after that ? Real estate meltdown. Their US assets deflated and they were hosed.
