So equalizer (and Marion), if an event causes lots of damage, and the person who suffers most from the damage is a sympathetic character, and another (innocent) party is rich and unsympathetic, then there should be a payment from the rich unsympathetic entity to the sympathetic person?
You know those materially poor countries that can’t seem to get their economic act together because their legal system is not based strictly on personal responsibility? Well, there’s no magic reason we couldn’t get there too if we fall too easily for these “big rich corporations vs nice poor people” visions of our society.

But, if he is unable to rent his old house out (for a reasonable amount), he will let it go.
They are in their new house, the old house is now secondary.

I know some here will call it fraud and breach of contract, etc, etc, but as long as they didnt committ fraud where is the issue? If you cant, dont pay your loan, contract specifies the remedies. Its amazing that people here cry for the banks under the personal responsibility guise. If the lawyers for the bank are too STUPID to write in proper clauses, why should we cry for the banks. They know how to write 30% APR for credit cards.
