Does prayer heal sickness? Is praying for health a “worldly” thing like money or a spiritual thing? Are there any things we can pray for that we want which aren’t worldly things?
I think we were put on earth to put our hands on the stove burner, sort of.

To each their own, however as for me and my family we will serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Yes, we are Catholic.

By the way, as I recently mentioned I was approved for a new mortgage – on top of the one I already have. The problem is, I want to move to San Elijo Hills. I don’t qualify for the property I would like to buy in SEH, primarily b/c I am not allowed to count what would be my rental income from my house in Temecula. There has to be a way to get this done, I need to qualify for about 100k more. Any ideas?
Prayer?
Given his benevolence and vast powers, this should be a pretty simple task for your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I’m just spitballin’.
Only those who are of this world, vain and selfish would even think to pray for something so petty.
Guilty!! Well, except for the praying part, that is.
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Can you give me an Amen!
This home in San Elijo Hills that you want… does that not fall under the “treasures on earth” that we’re not supposed to be laying up for?
I’ll file this under: “Rich in Irony”
I’ll pass on the Amen but offer up a “See you in Hell!!” [Unfortunately, I can’t properly convey a Satanic cackle in words.]
[By the way, if I were Satan, the first and most diabolical thing I would invent would be religions. Look at what they’ve wrought.]

March 13, 2011 at 11:27 AM #676573briansd1GuestI think that having kids is the path well-worn. Our cummulative knowledge is great. It’s also animal nature to reproduce, so we do it by instinct, not reason.
Some people are very unhappy without kids. Then they find “happiness” in kids because they are too busy to sit around iddle wishing for kids.
If I ever want a child, there are millions of poor kids wanting a good home.
I like Buddhist philosophy (not religion) in that one is best served to find happiness within (not through a spouse, kids, jobs, and external factors). The level of enlightenment you achieve is solely up to you.
