Yes and no. One does not necessarily need to directly experience something to know whether it’s likely to be enjoyable to them or not there is no way of being certain. Also one’s values change over time. One of my good friends is a doctor that travels the world. He has lived a life unlike anyone I know. He has had multiple audiences with the Dalai Lama and has the pictures to prove it. He lives in Bangkok and counts many high profile celebrities as friends who come there to have the times of their lives in that open environment. His life would make most people blush. That is until he met a gal he loved and had a child. That experience changed everything for him and he now wants another. Before that, he wouldnt have thought about putting his hand on the top of a burning stove but now he wants to come back to America and live in a non-descript suburb like Carlsbad. As for your cranial writing, its not the kids its having the right wife. My big brother is a prolific writer, a surgeon, a champion bodybuilder and a mentor to many people. He’s also the devoted husband and father to 1 and 2 yr old kids. It was all about having the right wife and that may not be an American wife. In his case it wasnt.

To each their own, however as for me and my family we will serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Yes, we are Catholic.

By the way, as I recently mentioned I was approved for a new mortgage – on top of the one I already have. The problem is, I want to move to San Elijo Hills. I don’t qualify for the property I would like to buy in SEH, primarily b/c I am not allowed to count what would be my rental income from my house in Temecula. There has to be a way to get this done, I need to qualify for about 100k more. Any ideas?
Prayer?
Given his benevolence and vast powers, this should be a pretty simple task for your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I’m just spitballin’.
Only those who are of this world, vain and selfish would even think to pray for something so petty.
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Can you give me an Amen!

March 12, 2011 at 5:39 PM #676469jpinpbParticipantIt’s funny sometimes to read the debate of which is better, married w/children or free and single. I do agree w/dave WRT not having to touch the burning stove to know it’ll hurt. I always wanted to have a kid, but it wasn’t in the cards. I can see what my friends go through. Good and bad. It touches my heart to see them hug each other and say they love you. I also see when they are out of control and are prospects for The Omen. Those are moments when my friends envy me. When they even confide in me and tell me they know they’re never supposed to say it out loud, but sometimes they regret having the kids. But if you ask them if they’ll do it over again, many will say yes.
Then you have people who somehow manage to do both. Charlie Sheen has kids and living a bachelor lifestyle. Making money for playing himself on a tv show. He had it all. Then he had to go fly too close to the sun and burn himself. You gotta know the alcohol destroyed a few too many brain cells. Dumba$$. He had it so good. Why push your luck. Now he’s got the kids taken away and fired from the show.
