nostradamus, thanks for the recommendation. I love steaks and definitely will try this place out. In regarding to Pho, (it’s Pho Hoa Cali, btw), I prefer Pho Ca Dao better. It’s on the corner of Camino Ruiz and MM Blvd. They tend to have less MSG in their food. One way to tell if they have a lot or not is how thirsty you are after you eat. The more thirsty = the more MSG.

January 2, 2008 at 5:15 PM #128063WaitingToExhaleParticipant…I don’t see any problem with people of any means looking at MM. Other people choose CV due to schools etc. but some might also argue (and someone did) that MMHS is actually ranked very high.
Is anyone else a bit unnerved by the sex offender map of Mira Mesa? Actually, that’s a good question for you realtor types out there: does that map affect housing values at all? We have migrated to looking at Penasquitos as a compromise between a decent, hard-working class neighborhood and a crazy, no- back-yard super-polished “community” like 4S ranch. To some extent that is due to me being skittish after seeing the offender web site (having a young daughter in the house).

Actually I like the Penridge better too. However, my wife, likes the newer New Salem home. We haven’t pay much attention to the traffic and noise in the New Salem area because a few times I were there it wasn’t that crowded or noisy. But now you guys mention it I think it could get rowdy with people going to the park on the weekend.
Right now we have no idea where we will buy. If we buy in MM, hopefully a house similar to Penridge will cost around $350K which makes the payments very affordable. We could survive with my salary alone. On the other hand, if we choose an area with nicer schools and max out we probably could buy in CV in 2009 for around ~550K.
