Yes, the jet noise affect MM as well. If you decide to buy in MM, you’ll have to get used to it. They only fly during the day though, so unless you’re at home during the day, you don’t have to worry about it. I don’t think they fly during the weekend either (at least I don’t remember hearing them)>
NW (north of Calle Cristobal) is the most desirable part of MM, but they’re also the most expensive. There are canyon view homes in Southwest MM as well. SW MM is slightly cheaper than that area of NW. They’re also older. Both SW and NW area of MM to SV is between 5-10 minutes depending on lights. There are several side street that can get you out of MM. You can go north to take SV Blvd/Calle Cristobal or go south to Miramar to get out.
There are a lot of Asians in Mira Mesa (could be negative or positive depending on how you look at it). Due to the large Asian population, there are a lot of Asian food choices (6 Pho places, 3 Asian supermarkets, 4 Vietnamese sandwich places, 3 Thai restaurants, etc). Most of MM does not have HOA (that can be positive or negative depending on what you like). Because there’s no HOA, it’s up to the owners to maintain their homes and not all do that. The NW part does have HOA, so it tend to be more manicured. There are more, but the post is getting long, so feel free to ask me anything else you’d like to know.

It’s the military and as such they are not bound to any noise ordance (or FAA). I used to stay pretty plugged in to the noise studies done quartley for San Diego Airport because I lived in Point Loma. A quick search of the web did not reveal any kind of dBA level of noise for Mira Mar.
Lastly, they do fly on the weekends.
10 years ago after a night of pub crawls I was staying with friend in the UTC. At 6 AM 2 sets of two flights went out over the UTC at full AB. I thought “my god the noise”… My friends were sleeping right through it… I guess ppl do get use to it but when I lived in PL I never set my alarm because the first departing aircraft would go over my house at exactly 6:31 am.

Do you have school age children? If yes, you might want to consider PQ which is about $50-$75k more expensive than MM but has excellent Poway schools. MM has above average schools. If you have no school age children and you work near SV or La Jolla, NW MM is ideal for budget under $500k. From NW MM, it is about a 5-7 min drive to SV. Usually there is no traffic even at peak time. Below are some threads discussing properties in NW MM. I just bought in NW MM so I know quite a bit about the area after three years of research. However, AN is the MM expert here.
