AH-HA HA HA…….
This bizarro-world real estate market has apparently made you as cynical about life as me! I’ve seen the signs too, but never thought bout it being a “scam”.
Wouldn’t surprise me a bit if it IS.July 1, 2007 at 11:13 AM #63252murf2222ParticipantAH-HA HA HA…….

But the fact that I have seen these signs in OB, Mission Valley, Mission Beach, and University Heights, with pictures of at least 3 different dogs, I concluded that either someone with a lot of money lost several dogs, or… it’s a scam.
I just can’t figure out how the “scammer” is benefiting.July 1, 2007 at 11:56 AM #63256citydwellerParticipantYes, I will admit that I am very cynical. July 1, 2007 at 3:04 PM #63225one_muggleParticipantWell, most pure-bred dogs from good breeders start around $2k.
If you have the money and really want someone either to return a stolen dog or be motivated to stop when they see your dog running around, one grand doesn’t seem out of line. BTW: It costs about a grand to have someone train your puppy for you. So the financial investment can be quite large–nevermind the emotional.-one muggle

Someone wants people to bring lots of dogs to them probably for selecting and buying and then resell. This business model probably look for profits from buying inventory at low cost?? That’s my guess, if you want to really know, call them and bring your dog to them just to see what they say.
In case they offer you 1000, just give them the dog.

July 2, 2007 at 9:04 AM #63305housingfreefallParticipantHi Guys
The dogs name is Zander. During a home invasion he was either let out or dog napped. The owners are in deep distress and love their dog very much. Reason I know the story is my dog goes to doggie day camp and the lady asked if i would pass out flyers sine I live across from Balboa park.
Keep you eyes peeled and please know it is not a hoax.ZB
