flu, I’m sure Toyota/Honda would be just fine selling the ES/RX/TL/TSX/etc as their Toyota/Honda equivalent w/ all the same option. However, I’m sure American would say, no way am I buying a $30k-50k Toyota/Honda. That’s why the ES/RX/TL/TSX exist and does well. Just look at what the general public say about the Hyundai Genesis.

March 15, 2009 at 1:30 PM #366527equalizerParticipant[quote=flu]I never understood why Lexus ES and RX were so popular here. I mean, the former being a Toyota Camry and Highlander with pleather and different body panels. The latter sharing enough with the Toyota highlander with pleather and different body panels. And how much more the Lexi (plural for Lexus?) were over the toyotas.
(Yeah, yeah before you folks get on the band wagon about saying Audis are rebadged VW’s. Platform sharing is not so extensive starting MK2002. And you can’t say the same thing about BMW or Mercedes)

Yep, Lexus auto sales down about half! Only 700 LS models sold in USA!! The 5 series BMW sold 3,200 last month. That is quite shocking, since Lexus became #1 luxury seller and could have gone on to outsell most luxury brands combined. Quick look at Carsdirect shows that new prices at Lexus are NOT discounted, but Infiniti cars and Acura SUVs are discounted.
Can someone post example of prices for 1.5yr Lexus?

March 15, 2009 at 3:53 PM #366582FearfulParticipantWent to Legoland last weekend. Parking lot was half full – that is, with customer cars. A portion of the lower section of the parking lot was being used for new car inventory. Lexus and Toyota, I think.
