I’ve not lived in France for 23 years but I always feel French in many ways. The French are not rich and powerful like Americans but they have a wonderful way of looking at life.

JG the way you push a certain social agenda, you should run for office. You are that tendentious about it. I was raised pretty much by my mom, dad was at sea most of the time. I turned out better than most. I don’t know that your theory holds water. There are lots of influences on children and interestingly enough freakonomics makes the case that friends have FAR more of an impact on child rearing than parents.
Juice I love those types of posts. You know the type, the fantasy past that never was. People were even more fucked up in the 50’s. More racist, more sexist, more misogynist, but they wore suits to church! They just didn’t report all that incest to the police and there was no myspace for people to explore their sexuality. I won’t defend alot of what goes on as totally kosher, but people are people. A society that gives them the most freedom is probably the happiest one.
